Case study: My experience of dedicating merit during my daughter's critical illness

Spiritual practices are often used alongside conventional medical treatment during life-threatening illnesses. This paper describes my personal experience during my daughter's critical illness due to severe hepatitis. Despite receiving appropriate medical treatment, her condition became life-threatening. During this period, I engaged in sincere prayer and consciously dedicated all the spiritual merit I believed I had accumulated through my good deeds, prayers, and selfless actions for my daughter's recovery. Soon afterward, her condition began to improve, and she eventually recovered. Although this experience cannot establish any scientific relationship between merit dedication and medical recovery, it profoundly strengthened my faith and shaped my understanding of compassion, karma, and divine grace. This paper is presented as a personal spiritual experience rather than scientific evidence.
