Background:
Newly graduated nurses often face inconsistent evaluations of themselves and from nurse managers and preceptors, which may hinder their early professional adaptation and clinical performance.
Purpose:
This study assessed newly graduated nurses' core competencies from the 3 perspectives and explored evaluation differences.
Methods:
We adopted the Competency Inventory for Registered Nurses for the survey.
Results:
No significant differences were found between newly graduated nurses and preceptors. Both groups gave markedly higher ratings than nurse managers across all competence dimensions.
Conclusions:
Newly graduated nurses and preceptors hold similar, more positive assessments. The results support the improvement of nursing clinical teaching and competency evaluation.
