Abstract:
The carbon atom engages in both π-hole and σ-hole tetrel bonding, both of which occur in intramolecular and intermolecular manifolds. Select recent examples of the impact of carbon-based π-hole tetrel bonding in a drug discovery setting are summarized, followed by a discussion of carbon-based σ-hole tetrel bonding, with curated examples of intramolecular and intermolecular interactions that highlight the growing appreciation of this phenomenon.
