Background:
Caregivers of patients with primary brain tumors (PBTs) experience psychological distress and often neglect their own health. This study examined how caregivers perceive changes in their health behaviors (e.g., sleep, diet, exercise, and substance use) and the associated risk factors for these changes.
Methods:
We utilized baseline survey data from a randomized controlled trial of 116 caregivers of patients with PBTs.
Results:
Caregivers most frequently reported impacts to their sleep (71%), exercise (58%), and meals prepared at home (56%). Caregiving burden was consistently associated with perceived changes in multiple health behaviors, even after controlling for depression and anxiety. Younger caregivers and those identifying as racial/ethnic minorities were more likely to report changes in health behaviors.
Conclusions:
Findings highlight burden as a central risk factor for declines in self-care and suggest that interventions that promote both emotional and physical well-being in this vulnerable population are warranted.

Specialized Care Centers and Settings-II
Rural health centers are specialized care facilities in remote locations with very few medical personnel. The primary care providers who run the centers are mostly Registered Nurse Practitioners. Here, emergency treatment is provided to critically ill or injured patients before they are transferred to the closest hospital. Fortunately, due to advancement in technology, many rural healthcare facilities and professionals have easy access to diagnostic and treatment...

Physicians
The physician's primary responsibility is to diagnose illness and direct the medical or surgical treatment of the condition. The authority to admit patients to a healthcare agency or institution and practice care within that setting is granted to physicians by the healthcare agency or institution itself.
