Krukenberg Tumor with Skin Metastasis: A Rare Entity

Abstract:
A 42 year old Nepali woman presented to the gynecology outpatient department with complaints of abnormal uterine bleeding for 16 months and pain in the lower abdomen of varying intensities for 3-4 months, with a history of total gastrectomy for carcinoma stomach some 18 months ago. Exploratory staging laparotomy was performed including peritoneal washings for cytology, hysterectomy in toto with removal of bilateral tubes and ovaries (total abdominal hysterectomy with bilateral salpingo oophorectomy) along with peritoneal biopsy. On postoperative day 7, cutaneous lesions were observed, which on biopsy were found to be metastatic one, and the histopathology of the hysterectomy specimen was reported as a Krukenberg tumor. She was advised chemotherapy at the regional cancer center.
