Abstract:
Cutis verticis gyrata is an overgrowth of scalp tissue that manifests as symmetric cerebriform skin folds that can be primary or secondary due to an underlying endocrine, infectious, genetic, or inflammatory condition. The authors have reported a case of 62-year-old man presenting with longitudinal ridging of the scalp and acromegalic features who was found to have a pituitary tumor causing acromegaly and the rare cutaneous manifestation of cutis verticis gyrata. This case highlighted how initial detection by dermatology led to multidisciplinary care involving several specialties and the eventual neurosurgical intervention leading to biochemical cure and symptom improvement.
