A case report of pleomorphic adenoma in a 27-year-old female

A 27-year-old female presented with a painless, multilobulated mass beneath the right ear. On physical examination, the mass was firm, nontender, multilobulated on palpation, no facial palsy was seen, and no prominent cervical lymph nodes were palpated. Ultrasound imaging using a curvilinear probe revealed a complex, heterogeneous lesion within the right parotid gland, and biopsy confirmed pleomorphic adenoma. The patient underwent partial parotidectomy with successful preservation of the facial nerve. No postoperative complications or recurrence were noted during follow-up. Pleomorphic adenoma can occur at any age and is the most common benign tumor of the salivary glands, typically affecting the parotid gland. Early diagnosis and surgical intervention are crucial in preventing complications such as recurrence or malignant transformation. The use of modified imaging techniques, such as ultrasound, may enhance preoperative assessment and surgical outcomes.
