Last week, I entered the Child & Adolescent Psychiatry (CAP) Clinic at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) as I have for nearly 50 years-and paused in the outpatient waiting room. Built to accommodate more than 30 family members, with space for children to play, the room was still. Before COVID, this space had been crowded and noisy, filled with children, parents, strollers, and the low hum of conversation. It was a place where families gathered and where brief, unscheduled interactions often yielded important clinical observations. The empty waiting room reflects the shift from in person treatment, supervision, and seminars to largely virtual training. What are the educational implications of this dramatic change?
