Abstract:
Epigenetic mechanisms, including DNA methylation, histone modification, and regulation by non-coding RNAs, play a key role in cell cycle and cell senescence control. A special place among epigenetic regulators is occupied by sirtuins, NAD⁺-dependent deacetylases involved in maintaining genomic stability, DNA repair, and transcription regulation. In this article, we consider the role of sirtuins (SIRT1, SIRT2, SIRT6, SIRT7) as integrators of epigenetic signals affecting the passage of the cell cycle and cell aging.
