1Department of Digestive Diseases, the First Affiliated Hospital of the Air Force Military Medical University, Xi'an 710032, China.
Abstract:
Cirrhosis can cause elevated portal vein pressure and the opening of collateral circulation, leading to portal hypertension. Esophagogastric variceal rupture and bleeding are the most urgent clinical manifestations of cirrhotic portal hypertension and have a high mortality rate. Therefore, comprehensive management of cirrhotic portal hypertension, including screening, prevention, and treatment of bleeding, is crucially significant for improving the survival rate and quality of life of patients. Herein, we discuss the medical treatment of portal hypertensive bleeding in cirrhosis.
