Abstract:
Bisphenol A (BPA), as a typical endocrine-disrupting chemical, can mimic estrogenic activity and destroy endocrine homeostasis, thus posing severe threats to human health. Meanwhile, its environmental persistence and bioaccumulation highlight the urgent demand for highly sensitive, rapid, and reliable detection techniques toward trace BPA in complicated matrices. Electrochemical sensing is highly attractive for BPA detection owing to its fast response, portability, and easy operation. However, conventional electrochemical strategies still suffer from insufficient sensitivity, poor selectivity, and limited stability, restricting their practical application in real-sample monitoring. Herein, we rationally design and synthesize a novel composite material JUC-62@pOMC via a one-step solvothermal method, combining the copper-based metal-organic framework JUC-62 with ordered mesoporous carbon (pOMC). The JUC-62@pOMC hybrid exhibits outstanding electrocatalytic activity toward BPA oxidation, showing two linear ranges of 0.05-5 μM and 5-190 μM with an ultralow detection limit of 5.6 nM. Combined with electrochemical measurements and density functional theory (DFT) calculations, the electrocatalytic mechanism of BPA is further revealed, verifying that the Cu2+ sites in JUC-62 act as active electron acceptors to promote efficient oxidation of BPA. This work not only promotes the practical application of MOF-based electrochemical sensors but also provides theoretical guidance for designing high-performance electrocatalysts for phenolic pollutant detection.
