None:
A Lewis acid-catalyzed, one-pot, three-component direct decarboxylative Friedel-Crafts reaction among benzofuran-derived azadienes, isatoic anhydride, and alcohols has been disclosed. A series of potentially useful triarylmethanes containing a benzofuran-fused moiety were synthesized in good to excellent yields. The scalability of this reaction and the transformability of its products demonstrate the utility of this method.
