Leslie Nickels: Worker Educator, Activist, and Social Justice Warrior

Dr. Leslie Anne Nickels was a leader in occupational health and safety who championed innovative training and education programs to improve worker health and safety locally, nationally, and across the world. The purpose of this article is to record her accomplishments in the peer-reviewed literature, as she herself did not publish much because of her focus on translating research into training and education, rather than on research itself. The authors conducted extensive interviews with members of Nickels' family, friends, and colleagues. Existing articles, videos, recordings, papers, and notes were reviewed. The authors summarized the findings to provide the following biographical tribute of Dr. Leslie Nickels.
