Abstract:
From the onset of the illness through the course of treatment and on to recovery, a person being treated for a vascular condition may experience a range of emotions and reactions. The psychologist's role may address the psychological effects of the illness, as well as the impact of treatments and/or hospitalization on the patient's emotional, relational, and social life. Sometimes, an old issue resurfaces during treatment. In such cases, the goal is to identify the psychological factors at play to help the patient adapt throughout the course of care.
