Purpose:
To evaluate the effectiveness of a comprehensive, web-based educational module on laryngoscopy and videostroboscopy in improving knowledge and confidence scores among otolaryngology-head and neck surgery residents and related medical trainees.
Methods:
Eighteen otolaryngology residents, medical students, and speech-language pathology trainees completed a web-based educational module on laryngoscopy and videostroboscopy, as well as premodule and postmodule knowledge assessments and confidence ratings. Participants also rated postmodule satisfaction and provided qualitative feedback.
Results:
Statistically significant improvements (P < 0.001) with large effect sizes were observed in knowledge assessment scores and confidence ratings for both laryngoscopy and videostroboscopy. Satisfaction with the module was high, with 100% of participants reporting they were either fairly or completely satisfied. Qualitative feedback highlighted the module's clarity, flexibility, and usefulness, particularly for early-stage learners.
Conclusion:
This web-based module effectively improved learner knowledge and confidence regarding laryngoscopy and videostroboscopy. The findings support its use as a flexible, accessible educational tool for otolaryngology trainees and learners in related fields.
