Bowenwork: A Clinical Application to Reduce Pain

Purpose:
The purpose of this clinical consultation is to introduce the Bowenwork technique that can be used to manage pain through a gentle, soft-tissue, noninvasive relaxation modality in a rehabilitation setting.
Methods:
A primer on the Bowenwork method is provided.
Results:
The findings from the literature review and the clinical case study suggest that Bowenwork can be effective in addressing pain, particularly in individuals with chronic or disabling conditions.
Clinical Relevance To The Practice Of Rehabilitation Nursing:
Bowenwork can be integrated into rehabilitation nursing practice to support the collaborative nurse-patient relationship, as it provides nurses with an additional tool to facilitate the holistic healing journey of the rehabilitative patient.
Conclusions:
Bowenwork is a holistic approach to pain management.
