Concussion is associated with multiple sclerosis if it occurs before infectious mononucleosis

Concussion before Epstein-Barr virus infection (infectious mononucleosis) in adolescence increases multiple sclerosis risk. Concussion after infection does not significantly alter this risk, suggesting timing is crucial for MS development.
