Introduction:
Ascites in the absence of liver disease poses a diagnostic challenge.
Case Presentation:
We report a previously healthy 50-year-old Swiss man with constitutional symptoms and progressive abdominal distension. Extensive workup excluded hepatic and malignant causes. Peritoneal tuberculosis was confirmed by diagnostic laparoscopy with histopathological and molecular analyses.
Conclusion:
This case highlights the need to consider rare causes of ascites, even in immunocompetent patients without liver disease.
