We report additive-free physical strategies to regulate ZIF-8 particle size and uniformity using co-solvents. This fluid-shear-mediated strategy regulates nuclei coalescence to dictate the final size, yielding small particles with a quasi-single-crystalline structure under mild shear and larger ones with a polycrystalline nature under intense mixing, fully preserving their adsorption capacity.
