Serous cystadenomas (SCA) are benign, and resection is generally reserved for symptomatic patients. Variations in radiographic appearance are common and can obscure the diagnostic picture. As such, many SCA are misdiagnosed and either observed or resected under the presumption of a mucinous cyst or another cystic pancreatic etiology. Improved diagnostics are needed as these will limit the number of unwarranted resections to a few true indications.
