Comprehensive oral rehabilitation of worn dentition using a facially driven digital workflow and minimally invasive

Abstract:
A 52-year-old male patient presented with chronic posterior maxillary pain, multiple dental wear with mild sensitivity, compromised anterior esthetics, and impaired function correlated with failed posterior restorations and occlusal disharmonies. A comprehensive rehabilitation protocol was implemented using facial and intraoral scanning, digital smile design, and staged prosthetic procedures, including endodontic retreatment, gingivectomy, and restoration delivery at an increased vertical dimension of occlusion (VDO). The final phase involved digital occlusal analysis to assess and refine inter-arch contacts. Within the limitations of a single case report, the outcome demonstrated functional and esthetic improvement, with establishment of a stable, harmonious occlusion at the therapeutic VDO. This case illustrates a digital, interdisciplinary approach that may be useful in managing similar complex rehabilitative scenarios.
