Abstract:
In contemporary chemical synthesis, a significant research focus has emerged on one-pot methodologies. This approach, driven by the desire to enhance efficiency, reduce resource consumption, minimize the generation of toxic by-products, and streamline experimental procedures, facilitates the execution of complex multi-stage reactions within a single reaction vessel. By circumventing the necessity for intermediate purification steps, one-pot synthesis offers a substantial simplification of multistep reactions, synthetic methodologies, and comprehensive syntheses. In the context of biological applications, such methodologies are particularly valuable to produce nanoparticles, such as quantum dots, which have garnered significant attention due to their potential in drug delivery, bioimaging, and biosensing. Consequently, this chapter will delve into the presentation of a one-pot synthetic route for the fabrication of BSA-Cu₂S/CuS quantum dots, using the Biuret reaction.
