Abstract:
This chapter describes the synthesis and characterization of copper indium sulfide CuInS2 (CIS) quantum dots (QDs), as well as their application in cellular labeling and cytotoxicity assessment. Specifically, the synthesis process was optimized to obtain QDs with desirable optical properties. The characterization is mainly based on X-ray diffraction (XRD) and spectroscopy techniques, such as absorption, emission, and time-resolved photoluminescence measurements. Additionally, cytotoxicity tests were performed to ensure its suitability for biological applications. Finally, cell labeling experiments were conducted to demonstrate the potential of CuInS2 QDs as efficient fluorescent probes for bioimaging.
