Abstract:
The recent position statement by the International Federation of Clinical Neurophysiology (IFCN) provides a critical roadmap for the implementation of artificial intelligence (AI) in clinical neurophysiology. AI has immense potential to augment existing practice, but careful navigation is required to overcome challenges to efficient and ethical clinical deployment. The challenges - including fragmented workflow, opaque governance, ethical liabilities and automation bias - are critically reviewed and strategies are proposed to ensure the seamless transition to widespread implementation within real-world clinical neurophysiology practice.
