Introduction:
Aim4Peace (A4P) is a hospital-linked community-based violence prevention program that aims to reduce violent crime. Trauma recidivism was studied before and after program implementation at an urban trauma center.
Methods:
A4P was implemented in 2008. Patients with penetrating injuries from intentional violence were retrospectively identified at an urban Level 1 trauma center. Preintervention patient records from 2006 to 2007 were reviewed, along with postintervention records from 2016 to 2017 and 2021 to 2023. Three-year and 8-y recidivism was compared in the preintervention and postintervention cohorts.
Results:
The analytic cohort included 1346 patients. Multivariate logistic regression revealed a significant difference in 3-y (odds ratio 0.34, 95% confidence interval 0.19-0.63, P < 0.001) and 8-y recidivism (odds ratio 0.35, 95% confidence interval 0.20-0.60, P < 0.001) between the pre- and post-intervention cohorts after adjusting for age, sex, and race.
Conclusions:
Trauma recidivism rates were significantly lower following the implementation of the A4P program.

Specialized Care Centers and Settings-II
Rural health centers are specialized care facilities in remote locations with very few medical personnel. The primary care providers who run the centers are mostly Registered Nurse Practitioners. Here, emergency treatment is provided to critically ill or injured patients before they are transferred to the closest hospital. Fortunately, due to advancement in technology, many rural healthcare facilities and professionals have easy access to diagnostic and treatment...
