Mechanical aspirators are useful tools for capturing mosquitoes and collecting a greater diversity of species and physiological states than do attractive traps. Here we describe a novel aspirator design for collecting resting mosquitoes in diverse habitats. The aspirator is constructed of readily available components and is powered by a rechargeable 12-V battery.
