Objective:
Objectives of this study were: a) to systematise the intervention descriptions in the papers on mental health guideline implementation using frameworks, and b) to put in relation intervention descriptions as a proxy of CPG implementation quality and effect directions.
Methods:
Systematic search for studies aimed at implementing guidelines for people with severe mental illness in. Textual data were elicited and intervention effects were summarised using the effect direction plot method.
Results:
Richness and detail of intervention description from 31 studies and the presence of operationalised indices of action appeared to be associated with positive effect direction, and multi-component strategies were related with positive effect direction in implementation trials.
Conclusions:
In studies of guideline implementation, the quality of intervention description may be a proxy of the quality and strength of strategies.
