Inflammatory Biomarkers and Post-Intensive Care Syndrome: A Prospective Cohort Study

Systemic inflammation markers like C-reactive protein (CRP), procalcitonin (PCT), and interleukin-6 (IL-6) were not consistently linked to Post-Intensive Care Syndrome (PICS) severity in survivors. Some associations with psychological PICS burden were observed, but require further validation.

- Potential time-dependent, domain-specific links between inflammation and psychological PICS burden warrant further investigation.
- Findings are exploratory and require external validation for clinical risk stratification.
