Logistic modelling of iron oxidation in alkaline media

Abstract:
A logistic model is applied to describe the voltammetry of iron electrodes in contact with NaOH aqueous electrolytes. This model provides a satisfactory reproduction of voltammetric features associated with superimposed oxidative processes incorporating miscibility gaps and a bi-logistic formalism. The model is consistent with a mechanistic view where hydroxide ion permeation is superimposed with an adsorption-dissolution-precipitation pathway and can be extended to reproduce chronoamperometric data.
