Abstract:
For the first time, global lake water quality can be assessed consistently across countries. Satellitemachine learning assessment of 16,409 lakes across 145 countries reveals that only two out of every three lakes meet SDG water quality standards, exposing profound inequalities in freshwater security that affect billions of people.
