Mild aortic regurgitation in bicuspid aortic valve (BAV) can cause anterior mitral leaflet (AML) aneurysm and perforation, a novel complication. This challenges the view of mild aortic regurgitation as benign and necessitates further investigation.
Area of Science:
- Cardiology
- Pediatric Cardiology
- Cardiovascular Surgery
Background:
- Bicuspid aortic valve (BAV) with mild aortic regurgitation (AR) is typically considered benign.
- Anterior mitral leaflet (AML) aneurysm and perforation is a previously undescribed complication.
