Application of a Fully Digital Workflow in Occlusal Reconstruction for Severely Worn Dentition

Objective:
Occlusal reconstruction serves as a comprehensive and effective restorative strategy for managing severe attrition affecting the entire dentition, aiming to restore both function and esthetics. This case report aims to systematically present a complete digital occlusal reconstruction workflow to achieve precise operation and reproducibility of treatment outcomes.
Clinical Considerations:
The complete set of severely worn dentition exhibits extensive tooth wear and structural loss, accompanied by a marked reduction in vertical dimension of occlusion (VDO), resulting in significant impairment of both esthetics and masticatory function. In this study, multimodal imaging and clinical data were integrated to construct a four-dimensional (4D) virtual patient model. Based on this model, occlusal relationships and prosthetic configurations were systematically designed and rigorously validated to restore both the patient's compromised aesthetic appearance and functional performance resulting from severe generalized tooth wear.
Conclusions:
This article reports a case of occlusal reconstruction assisted by digital oral technology. Through digitalized processes, precise treatment throughout the entire cycle from preoperative planning to intraoperative adjustment to postoperative verification has been achieved. This case demonstrates a potentially reproducible approach to occlusal reconstruction and may serve as a reference for managing similar complex conditions.
