Minimally invasive treatments for developmental defects of enamel
Abstract:
Developmental defects of enamel (DDEs) are clinical conditions that affect the mineral structure and integrity of dental enamel, leading to adverse effects such as dentinal hypersensitivity and significant esthetic impairment. Amelogenesis imperfecta, fluorosis, molar-incisor hypomineralization, and hypoplasia are all considered DDEs. In addition to having various etiologies that may influence the choice of treatment, DDEs also require personalized treatment plans based on the depth and color of the lesion. Studies on DDEs have explored minimally invasive dentistry techniques that preserve as much dental structure as possible and provide a satisfactory esthetic resolution for the patient. The objective of this literature review is to share information about minimally invasive strategies for the diagnosis and treatment of DDEs.
