Abstract:
Vital pulp treatments, particularly pulpotomy, have demonstrated outcomes similar to root canal therapy while reducing biological, technical, and economic burdens. Their success, however, relies on accurate assessment of pulpal status, an inherently challenging task due to the limitations of current diagnostic methods, as well as rigorous clinical execution. This requires careful removal of carious tissue, appropriate management of pulp exposure, and achievement of proper hemostasis, since the ability to control bleeding determines whether a more invasive treatment is indicated. Over the exposed pulp, a hydraulic calcium silicate cement must be placed, followed by a durable and bacteria-tight coronal restoration to ensure long-term prognosis.
