Digital workflow-guided autotransplantation of developing teeth after resection of an odontoma: a case report

Abstract:
An 11-year-old girl presented with a painless right maxillary mass, retained primary teeth and impacted premolars. Radiographic examination confirmed a complex odontoma. One-stage surgery was performed under general anesthesia, including odontoma enucleation, primary tooth extraction, and digital-guided autotransplantation of the impacted premolars. Preoperative 3D reconstruction, virtual simulation and 3D-printed PLA models ensured precise surgical planning. At 3-month follow-up, the transplanted teeth were stable with progressive apical closure and positive pulp vitality. No postoperative complications occurred. This digital workflow enables synchronous lesion removal and tooth replacement, representing a promising strategy for adolescent odontoma management.
