Mandibular Alveolar Ridge Fracture Repair With Circummandibular and Interdental Vicryl Sutures

Pediatric alveolar ridge fractures can be managed surgically with semi-rigid splinting, plates, or wires. However, these surgical methods necessitate a second operation for hardware removal. This case highlights an alternative approach that does not require reoperation. A 2-year-old girl presented to the emergency department with a mandibular alveolar ridge fracture and dental displacement. Our team performed interdental and circummandibular fixation of the displaced segment using absorbable 4-0 Vicryl sutures. Postoperative follow-up demonstrated stable alignment, proper healing, and no complications. This technique avoids permanent hardware and eliminates the need for secondary procedures under additional anesthesia.
