Background:

Generalized ceroid-lipofuscinosis (GCL) encompasses a group of rare inherited neurodegenerative lysosomal storage diseases.
Jansky-Bielschowsky syndrome, the late infantile form (Type II), presents with progressive neurological decline.

Observation:

A histologically confirmed case of Jansky-Bielchowsky syndrome is presented.
Electroencephalogram (EEG) revealed paroxysmal activity triggered by photic stimulation, characteristic of the Pampiglione phenomenon.

Findings:

The Pampiglione phenomenon, a specific EEG pattern, was observed in response to low-frequency photostimulation.
Analysis of clinical data and literature review supports the diagnostic value of the Pampiglione phenomenon for Type II GCL.

Implications:

The Pampiglione phenomenon is a valuable diagnostic marker for late infantile generalized ceroid-lipofuscinosis.
Early identification through characteristic EEG findings can aid in timely management of Jansky-Bielchowsky syndrome.
