Abstract:
Red meat consumption is widespread globally and has been associated with endometriosis (EMS) progression, although the precise underlying mechanisms remain unclear. In the present study, we aimed to explore the mechanisms by which a red meat diet exacerbates endometriosis progression. Our results showed that red meat intake significantly promoted the growth of endometriotic lesions and aggravated the related inflammatory responses. Mechanistically, a red meat diet alters the composition of the gut microbiota, decreases the production of short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs), impairs intestinal barrier function, and activates systemic inflammatory signaling pathways. These findings illustrate that red meat consumption accelerates endometriosis progression through a gut microbiota-mediated pathway, providing new insights into dietary intervention strategies for endometriosis.
