Sydney hypospadias outcome complication score (SHOC)

Reporting complications in hypospadias surgery is inconsistent. Terms like "minor" and "major" appear throughout the literature without agreed definitions, making cross-study comparisons unreliable and meta-analyses difficult to interpret. No widely accepted objective classification exists. We propose the Sydney Hypospadias Outcome Complication (SHOC) Score based on the Clavien-Dindo (CD) classification. We suggest that future studies report the SHOC score alongside median follow-up time to allow meaningful comparison across institutions and techniques.
