Catheter-associated urinary tract infections (CAUTIs) are among the most common health care-associated infections, contributing to increased morbidity, prolonged hospital stays, and elevated health care costs. However, despite established prevention guidelines, compliance remains inconsistent.

This project aimed to improve adherence to CAUTI prevention strategies at Valiasr Hospital, Tabriz, Iran through a structured, evidence-based implementation approach.

A pre-post intervention study was conducted using the JBI Evidence Implementation Framework. Baseline and follow-up audits assessed compliance with seven evidence-based criteria, followed by targeted interventions, including staff education, protocol reinforcement, and multidisciplinary engagement.

Significant improvements were observed in key areas: hand hygiene compliance increased from 8.33% to 83.33%, timely catheter removal from 0% to 80%, and availability of written catheter management protocols in clinical units from 45% to 75%. Daily meatal cleansing compliance rose from 33.33% to 70%.

Systematic implementation of evidence-based strategies significantly enhanced CAUTI prevention practices. Sustained efforts, including continuous education and audit feedback, are essential for long-term success.
