Abstract:
Cannula rupture is a rare but often fatal complication of mechanical circulatory support in children. We describe a case of cannula rupture in a patient fully dependent on VAD and the team's strategic response in preventing an adverse outcome. This case report outlines preventative steps that can be undertaken by programs caring for patients on Berlin VADs.
