Abstract:
Biological diagnosis is a key step in the detection and confirmation of epidemics.
Objectives:
Determine the performance score of the laboratories of research institutions (IR) and University Hospital Centers (CHU) of Bamako in terms of Quality Management System (QMS).
Materials And Methods:
This is a cross-sectional, evaluative study of a comparative nature carried out from March to October 2023, in eight human health analysis laboratories (four IR and four University Hospitals) in Bamako, involved in the confirmation of diseases with epidemic potential. Six areas of the critical QMS QMS for monitoring were used from the SLIPTA (Gradual Process for Laboratory Assessment towards Accreditation) checklist.
Results:
the eight laboratories had a performance varying from 0 to 4 stars. Out of an expected total of 165 points, the total score obtained was respectively 64, 73, 96, 143 for IRs versus 43, 47, 75, 97 for CHUs. There is no statistically significant difference (p=0.0829) between the average score of IRs and that of CHUs.
