The Production of a New Clinical Photography Textbook
Abstract:
Several textbooks about medical photography have been published since the mid-20th century, but none covers the techniques and workflow involved with digital technology. A proposal was put to Focal Press for a new textbook covering the full range of clinical photography and encompassing a fully digital workflow. This article discusses previous textbooks and describes the process for this modern publication, which is edited by three professional clinical photographers. Key stages of the book production are described: contributing authors and areas of specialty, content development including image production, and some of the challenges faced. The book is available worldwide, using the print-on-demand (PoD) process.
