Abstract:
Spinal cord perfusion pressure (SCPP) represents the primary driving force for spinal cord blood flow and oxygen delivery. Optimizing SCPP represents a key actionable strategy for mitigating secondary injury following acute traumatic and non-traumatic spinal cord injury (SCI). In those scenarios, an enhanced hemodynamic management represents the natural continuation of efforts meant to provide timely decompression of the spinal cord. This article will cover the full spectrum of topics related to SCPP optimization: from guidelines for mean arterial pressure targets in traumatic SCI patients, to best practices for Degenerative Cervical Myelopathy, White Cord Syndrome, and Metastatic Spinal Cord Compression.
