Abstract:
Silver nanoparticles have gained significant attention in the field of catalysis due to their high surface-to-volume ratio, low cost, good stability, and easy fabrication. Biopolymeric systems with different morphologies are widely used to fabricate and stabilize metal nanoparticles. This review article describes the synthesis, characterization, and catalytic applications of biopolymer-stabilized silver nanoparticles. In the initial sections, the synthesis, properties, and analysis of catalytically active silver nanoparticles loaded into biopolymers are presented. Subsequently, the catalytic applications of biopolymer-stabilized silver nanoparticles in both organic and inorganic reactions are discussed. The discussion concludes with possible future directions in the area of silver-biopolymer hybrid materials for catalysis.
