Abstract:
Early childhood caries (ECC) is a major pediatric oral health problem that may adversely affect normal occlusal and craniofacial development in children. Therefore, it is of interest to evaluate the relationship between early childhood caries (ECC) and developing malocclusion patterns in young children. A cross-sectional pedodontic-orthodontic assessment was conducted to determine how caries severity influences occlusal development. Data show a significant association between severe ECC and malocclusions such as increased overjet, crossbite and anterior open bite. Behavioral and dietary factors further contributed to this relationship. Early preventive intervention and integrated dental care are essential to reduce long-term developmental issues.

Tooth Anatomy
The Crown, Neck, and Root
The visible part of the tooth is referred to as the crown. It's covered by enamel, the hardest substance in the human body. The crown is uniquely shaped for each type of tooth, allowing for different functions such as cutting, tearing, or grinding food.
Teeth
In the bud stage, the tooth germ (an aggregation of cells) starts to form in the developing jawbone. During the cap stage, the tooth germ differentiates into enamel organ, dental papilla, and dental sac, which will later develop into the tooth's enamel, dentin and...
