RETRACTION: Vitamin D Improves Autoimmune Diseases by Inhibiting Wnt Signaling Pathway
Retraction:
M. Zou, Q. Song, T. Yin, H. Xu and G. Nie, "Vitamin D Improves Autoimmune Diseases by Inhibiting Wnt Signaling Pathway," Immunity, Inflammation and Disease 12, no. 2 (2024): e1192, https://doi.org/10.1002/iid3.1192. The above article, published online on 27 February 2024 in Wiley Online Library (https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com), has been retracted by agreement between the journal Editor-in-Chief, Alexander Hutchison; and John Wiley & Sons Ltd. The retraction has been agreed upon following an investigation which identified discrepancies between the findings reported in the Abstract and those reported in the Results section. The investigation also identified multiple ambiguities and inconsistencies in the description of the experimental methods, including the reported dosing and experimental design, which prevent the work from being reliably interpreted and reproduced. The authors were contacted for comment and asked to provide supporting data but did not respond. Due to the nature of the concerns, the editors have lost confidence in the reliability of the findings reported in this article. The authors did not respond to the retraction notice.

Role of Skin in Vitamin D Synthesis
The solar UV B rays (290-315 nm) are absorbed by the skin, and 7-dehydrocholesterol (provitamin D3) photolyzes it to previtamin D3, which undergoes a rapid transformation to vitamin D3(cholecalciferol).
