China's ultimate orchestration-integrating the science

Abstract:
As China has matured into a technological and manufacturing superpower, the United States and Europe have managed to retain leadership in some of the most scientifically intensive industries, such as semiconductors and aviation. But that advantage too is at risk. China has grown into a near-peer to the United States in many scientific disciplines and will make deeper inroads into these industries as well. The United States government needs to stop beating up on its scientists, or it will cede one of its great strengths-the development of technologies that require the complex integration of varied scientific disciplines.
