Tuning positive charge density in viologen-based ionic porous organic polymers for efficient electrochemical H2O2

Abstract:
The sustainable electrosynthesis of H2O2via the two-electron oxygen reduction pathway requires highly selective catalysts. Viologen-based porous organic polymers show promise as metal-free electrocatalysts. By tuning the size of the secondary building block in polymers, we modulate the positive charge density, optimize O2 adsorption and intermediate stabilization, and achieve enhanced kinetics and H2O2 selectivity.
