[18F]FDG PET/CT Findings of Primary Uterine Dysgerminoma: A Case Report

Abstract:
Primary uterine dysgerminoma is a rare malignant neoplasm. We reported the [18F]FDG PET/CT findings in a case of primary uterine dysgerminoma in a 60-year-old woman with dull lower abdominal pain. Pelvic ultrasonography revealed a posterior uterine mass suspicious for sarcoma. [18F]FDG PET/CT demonstrated uterine morphologic distortion, marked volumetric enlargement, and diffusely increased FDG uptake, suggestive of uterine malignancy. MRI revealed a posterior uterine wall mass, exhibiting hypoenhancement relative to the normal myometrium with internal enhancing septa, suggestive of uterine leiomyosarcoma. The woman underwent total hysterectomy and bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy. The uterine mass was diagnosed as dysgerminoma on histopathology and immunohistochemistry.
